Looking back

This weekend went quickly. I worked from home on Friday as usual, and enjoyed a night out with my great friend Brooke.  We wandered up to Rockville, MD, which took forever because it was Friday night.  I got home late and up early to hang out with my friend Angela.  We had planned to go for a long bike ride, but when she came over at 8 am it was still 34 degrees F outside.  As we waited for the world to heat up a bit, I changed our plans, knowing that the point of return on pedaling hard and fast enough to stay warm in the biting air would penetrate us, was not going to be worth it.  So instead we did a nice 3 mile jog followed with a quick plyometrics workout on my phone from Nike Training Club (great app by the way).  Then we walked another 5 miles and enjoyed the sunshine and managed to stay just warm enough.

After coming home and cleaning up we ate a quick lunch of pancakes and then got acupressure massages in Shirlington.  The local place down there has a $45 deal for an hour massage and boy oh boy did I need it.  Following my quick workout from Friday, and our long walk/jog, my muscles were super tight and the massage felt great.  I'm going to make a commitment to myself to get a few more massages and enjoy, for all the pain and abuse I put my muscles through!  There's a new Massage Envy shop in Clarendon that I might sign up at. I guess they offer "memberships" of some sort, where you can pay a certain fee each month and get a certain number of massages.  Sounds great.

Today I served at Carpenter's Shelter again, and then enjoyed William P. Young (author of The Shack) speaking at church!  He is quite inspirational and I really enjoyed his message.  It's amazing to think that the book he wrote for his kids, and initially made 15 copies at Kinkos has become a multi-million selling book, translated into over 20 languages.  I'm halfway through the book and need to finish. It's very fast reading and I'm curious to see where the story goes.  You finish it too Dad, k!  =)

I went through some of my photos from the past few months and need to post some on the blog.  Here are a few remnant glimpses of my Alaska trip in September.  I'll post some of Mom's trip out, followed by more from Dad's trip too.  That will keep the scenery interesting on the blog until I have something new and exciting to share!
